Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory

Nightmares

We’re leading with a big one: Our dates are locked in. Hollow Knight’s fourth Free Content Pack, Gods & Glory will be arriving for all players on August 23rd!

We said this’d be the largest pack yet and we weren’t lying! A whole bunch of new bosses. A slew of new music. New NPCs. New Quests. The final chapter for the knight is turning into the celebration we hoped it would be!

We’re so eager to get this one out to you all, and we’re so close. Get your PC or Nintendo Switch ready for the end of August. We’re gonna put your Hollow Knight skills to the test!

Hollow Knight Gods & Nightmares

This one’s been hinted at for a while and today it’s being officially unveiled. The second Hollow Knight album by Christopher Larkin: Gods & Nightmares.

Through Hollow Knight’s Content Packs, Chris has been expanding Hollow Knight with a full suite of incredible new tracks. Gods & Nightmares packages them all together in one epic album (along with an all new, live recorded arrangement, Pale Court).

It’s not been said before, but Chris created all of the extra Hollow Knight music for free! If you love the music (and sound) of Hollow Knight, buy the album and support this incredibly talented composer!

Hollow Knight Gods & Nightmares is releasing on Steam ($4.99USD) and all major digital platforms (Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify) on August 9th.

Gods & Nightmares Limited Vinyl

But wait! The Gods & Nightmares saga doesn’t end there. Our friends over at Ghost Ramp have been working around the clock to produce this stunning, limited Vinyl, collating all 15 of the new tracks onto one very large, very cool disc.

Fangamer Frenzy

HK had its surprise Switch release during E3, but just as important our friends at Fangamer announced a selection of smashing new HK goods. The feature item: This gigantic, talking plush Grub!

Yep! This thing is legit. It’s huge. It’s huggable. It’s squishable. It murmurs lovingly at you when tightly squeezed. It’s basically going to be the loyal, adoring companion you’ve always dreamed a grub would be.

You can pop over to Fangamer and pre-order your very own squishy-grub friend right now, and while you’re there, check out all the other cool HK merch that’s just dropped. New Tees. New print. Fangamer, you’re the best!

Introducing Jack

Gang! This one’s been far too long left unmentioned. We want to officially introduce Jack Vine! Jack’s actually been with us for a while now and has taken over Dave’s role at Team Cherry (now that Dave’s landed a cushy corporate gig – Congrats Dave!). When we first met Jack he was showing off his cool Cave Story inspired game at a local game’s convention, and anyone who appreciates Cave Story gets two thumbs up from us! With Jack on-board Team Cherry is back to being a complete 3 person game-developing team!

No photo on hand, so here’s an artist’s rendition of Jack.

HK Switch Version 1.3.4.5

This one’s just some quick housekeeping. If you’re a Hollow Knight player on Nintendo Switch, you may have noticed a small update go out last week. That’s our bug fix patch to address a few stability issues and some niggling bugs in the release version.

Hollow Knight - Gods & Nightmares

With those fixes out of the way, our next update will be Gods & Glory, which will roll in a few more small fixes, including controller re-binding on Switch.

Far out! That’s a huge whack of news. So much news, we’ll be going silent for the next few weeks as we finesse the last of Gods & Glory (and cram in some last minute additions!).

Thank you everyone who’s jumping into Hollow Knight for the first time on Nintendo Switch and an extra giant thank you to the Hollow Knight community who’ve been so welcoming to all the new HK players. We’ve seen all the guidance and encouragement on Discord, on Reddit, on Era. Pretty much everywhere we look! We love you all!

William | 15 August, 2018 | Content Pack, Hollow Knight

Hey Everyone,

Small update to let you know of a last-minute development. As of today, Hollow Knight’s upcoming Free Content Pack is getting a snazzy new name. Formerly Hollow Knight: G*ds & Gl*ry, Free Content Pack 4 will forever-more be known as:

Hollow Knight: Godmaster

That’s right! We’ve upgraded the name to be bigger and better than ever! The Free Content Pack still features the exact same content, and is still releasing for players on Nintendo Switch, Windows, Mac & Linux on August 23rd.

So why the 11th hour change? Well not only is the new name 100 times cooler, more distinct, more ‘Hollow Knight’, it also doesn’t conflict with the title of a certain mobile game, made by a very large, very powerful video game company! It’s a win win all-round! Now, let’s all take a moment to enjoy this stylish upgrade.

Cherry Picks

Nightmares

To close off this post, we wanted to highlight some of the games we’ve been playing and enjoying that we think you should check out!

Rising Dusk, by our friend Lukas Stobie (@StudioStobie), is a super-colourful, charming, constantly surprising adventure full of character. It’s an anti-coin collection puzzle-platformer with incredible music, a vibrant style and distinctive levels that each have their own unique ideas and atmosphere. Most importantly, it has a fantastic overworld map that lets you choose your own path as you dig out secrets! We had great fun playing through it at Bitsummit earlier this year and then doing it all over again now that it’s out on Steam.

Unworthy seems to have snuck quietly out into the world recently with a low-key release, but we think it’s definitely worth a look! It tasks you with exploring a vast, ancient world, uncovering secrets and fighting some terrific bosses. The combat is fluid and fantastically weighty, and the layout of the world is constantly surprising and lets you forge your own path through. Everything is animated really powerfully, and the ambience makes it easy to spend hours plumbing the deepest depths and scouting out the farthest reaches of the game.

Hollow Knight - Gods Nightmares

That’s it for now gang! Hollow Knight: Godmaster is almost here, and we’ve got all sorts of other exciting stuff cooking behind the scenes.
